Spellbound at OCCII

After 17 years, I finally visited Spellbound. Shame that it took me so long, cause it's only on a 5 min walking distances from my house. Always other things to do (dj work, being abroad, whatever). As I knew that some of the people of Artlaunch are behind it and that VJ Jeremy is involved, I was ready for something creative ;-).It was more. I was finally going out in my own city ! It felt like a treat. Of course, we're happy with an affordable entrance fee (€7) and low drink prices, but the other ingredients were there too. A nice blend of visitors and staff. Recognizing faces from the Trut, Church, Rapido, Fuxxx. Young, old, alternative, casual, sports, kinky. Cute on the outside or (probably) on the inside :P.Lights

A'dam lacks of interesting options, spellbound is the exception! crowd from 18 to 40 maybe, more around 25-32. Friendly, relax, open, diverse, no pretensious guys like in 'the gay street', but cute, less-cute, normal, open, sexy, talkable audience (felt like in Berlin, or London haha). Music quite good too. Shame it's only once every two months. But worth waiting for.

used to be a young crowd - but now its gotten old

Big big drawback: people are still allowed to smoke. Too bad for this great party. Only 3 stars from me because of the smoking.

Nice crowd, nice music. Low entrance fee and inexpensive drinks. Too bad about the crappy location. The OCCI is completely worn out. It's not maintained at all. The air system doesn't seem to work. The temperature gets so high and the oxygen level so low that I doubt that this could be legal. They don't have to buy an airco system but some fresh air from outside would be nice.

May 16th 2006 is open till 5 hrs...

Great party! Relaxed crowd, cheap booze, good beats, nice location. As 'alternative' goes, it's the best Amsterdam has to offer, imho.
